My name is David Orlandi and I would like to welcome you to The Basin Primary School. I am the principal of this fantastic school and have enjoyed the sense of community present in our school community.

The Basin Primary School, situated in the City of Knox, is located at the foot of the Dandenong Ranges and has been an integral part of the local community for well over 100 years. Originally a one teacher rural school, its present enrolment is 665 and has been increasing over recent years.

The Basin Primary School is totally committed to its focus on the ‘whole child’ balancing the academic, physical, social and personal development of our students. We believe this is best met when parents, their children and the school staff work closely and cooperatively together. Our school aims to provide a challenging environment that develops individual differences and encourages & motivates students through their positive actions to become independent learners in a global society. Our highly professional and dedicated teachers have designed a curriculum to maximise opportunities for all students to experience learning success with a strong focus on building' literacy and numeracy skills as well as catering for a range of student abilities and interests.

We have our successful and reputable specialist programs incorporating PE & Sport, Visual Arts, Music Performing Arts, Science and German programs which offer fantastic opportunities for the students. In the area of student support we provide a range of literacy and numeracy supports as well as Speech Therapy services, Occupational Therapy, psychology and our highly effective Chaplaincy Program.
